Writing

Short notes on things I've worked through — one per roadmap module, written as I finish it.

The format is deliberate. The roadmap prescribes a weekly retrieval session, because six months separates the early material from the interviews that test it and re-reading notes does not produce recall. Writing a short note about what you just learned is retrieval practice — so these notes are the study habit and the record of it at the same time, rather than a separate obligation competing with it.

What a note is: one thing I learned, what surprised me, and what I got wrong first. Usually under 500 words. Not tutorials, and not summaries of the source — a summary proves you read something, which is not the claim worth making.
